David Bowie è tra gli artisti che hanno trionfato ai Grammy Awards 2017, assegnati nella notte allo Staples Center di Los Angeles: ben cinque premi sono infatti andati a Blackstar, tra cui Best Alternative Music Album e Best Rock Song per la title track. Beyoncé ha regalato al pubblico l’ennesima performance memorabile, sulle note di Love Drought e Sandcastles – brani inclusi nell’album LEMONADE, che ha conquistato il Grammy come Best Urban Contemporary Album. A Queen Bey è andato anche il premio Best Music Video, assegnato alla clip di Formation.
Il Grammy per il Miglior Album Rock è andato ai Cage The Elephant per Tell Me I’m Pretty, mentre The Chainsmokers si sono aggiudicati il titolo di Best Dance Recording per Don’t Let Me Down feat. Daya. Premiati anche i Pentatonix con Dolly Parton per la Best Country Duo/Group Performance con Jolene, e Solange per la Best R&B Performance con Cranes In The Sky. Lake By The Ocean di Maxwell è stata eletta Best R&B Song, mentre Can’t Stop The Feeling! di Justin Timberlake ha ottenuto il titolo di Best Song Written For Visual Media.
Tra i performer anche John Legend, che ha interpretato God Only Knows dei Beach Boys insieme a Cynthia Erivo per ricordare tutti gli artisti scomparsi nel corso dell’ultimo anno. Alicia Keys ha duettato sulle note di Once con Maren Morris, premiata con il Grammy alla Best Country Solo Performance per My Church. I Daft Punk hanno accompagnato la performance di The Weeknd, gli A Tribe Called Quest si sono esibiti con Andersoon .Paak, e Carrie Underwood con Keith Urban.
